Neighborhood Improvement Funding Program (NIFP):

Scope of Work/Goal:
The MWCAC’s Neighborhood Improvement Funding Program, funded by Cal Am Water franchise fees, supports neighborhood improvement projects in the communities serviced by Cal Am Water—Mark West, Larkfield, Wikiup and parts of Fulton. This subcommittee developed, and continually updates, the eight-page Funding Guide Book and Application Form that was approved by the Council (5-0), June 11, 2018. The committee also shepherds all NIFP applications from date received, to Council and Board of Supervisors’ approval, to distribution of funds.

Rebuild/Fire Mitigation:

Scope of Work/Goal:
This subcommittee will coordinate with block captains, County of Sonoma, Sonoma County Fire District and other non-governmental organizations to update the Council on rebuild projects and overall progress from the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Collaborates with community leaders, local neighborhoods, governmental agencies to implement fire mitigation/vegetation management projects to ensure the Mark West area is fire safe.

Wikiup Open Space

Scope of Work/Goal:
The goal of this subcommittee is to identify strategies to best develop and maintain the former Wikiup Golf Course (~25 acres) currently slated to be donated by the Wikiup Commons developer, Jackson Family Investments lll LLC, who is in the early permitting stages (File # PLP20-0007—2/7/2020). Will actively solicit and compile local residents suggestions, make their findings available to the public, and will identify funding sources for maintaining the open space into the future. In addition, the subcommittee will be active in publicizing their efforts to the community wherever possible. See Permit Sonoma’s Wikiup Commons PDF presentation here.

Mark West Area Specific Plan

Scope of Work/Goal:
Prepare a Specific Plan for the Mark West Area to coordinate with the Sonoma County General Plan update by addressing elements which are critical to the quality of life and well-being of its residents, businesses, and institutions. To solicit community input on guidance for planning the future of the Mark West Area including; Land Use, Circulation, Housing, Open Space, Noise, Safety, and Utilities. To solicit input from community members on their vision for the future of the Mark West Area.
